[October 20, 2013] — Texas A&M University is known for many traditions: The 12th Man; mascot Reveille; the Corps. And this year, more than 53,000 students attend their College Station campus.
One of the legacies is the Christian Faculty Network. It’s been in existence for 30 years on the main campus. They have more than 250 professors and staff on their mailing list, and have apologist Ravi Zacharias scheduled to speak in March of 2014.
It is encouraging to meet with professors who have modeled a life of faith for many years. One of their biggest challenges is how to “pass the baton” to a new generation.
Steve has been to Aggieland twice this year, to meet with the group’s leadership. Now there are additional trips planned in the near future.
Please pray for :
- Presence:their Christian faculty to model Christ’s love and service in the classroom;
- Proclamation: for them to have significant conversations with interested students outside the classroom;
- Delegation: leaders share the load;
- Wisdom: in involving young professors;
- Clarity: limited time, increasing demands and not a lot of additional resources;
- Partnerships: there are many great churches in College Station that faculty attend; please pray that we will have wisdom in forming partnerships with them!
