Purdue University —

February 19, 2012 — Dr. Paul Copan is the  president of the Evangelical Philosophical Society. This month he spoke to a Purdue University crowd of 1,000 on the subject: Is God a Moral Monster? Good, Evil, and the Old Testament.

His presentation included a question and answer time with  people who were not believers in Jesus: members of the Society of Non-Theists, international students, leaders of Muslim groups and the Pagan Academic Network.

His presentation is one of many happening across the country through Faculty Commons and groups like the Veritas organization. Last year here at the University of North Texas, we sponsored Dr. Fritz Schaefer (Chemistry, University of Georgia) who spoke on Stephen Hawking, The Big Bang and God.

There are many students, both Christian and nonChristian, trying to discover how faith and reason relate — if at all. These Christian professors are helping them understand that there is a reason for the hope that is within us (I Peter 3:15).

Dr. Copan is a professor of philosophy at Florida Atlantic University and the author of  Philosophy And The Christian Worldview.
